The project, launched in 2000, was created as a complimentary tool to traditional English teaching methods. Many Spaniards reported that their hundreds of hours of traditional class did not prepare them for putting their language skills into practice at business meetings and conference calls. The frustration and anxiety that they felt while trying to express themselves had to be addressed. As a result two business partners, one in the English language industry and another a financial expert, launched Pueblo Ingles.
After discovering the restored village of Valdelavilla, they knew it was the perfect place to promote the enrichment of the English language. This charming village would offer true English immersion in the heart of Spain. Five and a half years of experience and over 250 programs later, Pueblo Ingles still provides the perfect environment for “students” to improve their communication skills tremendously; and all thanks to the thousands of English-speaking natives that come from all over the world.
Venue Inauguration Timeline
July 2001 – Pilot program in Valdelavilla, Soria.
January 2003 – Introduced new venue in Barco de Ávila.
Nov 2004 – New venue opened in La Alberca, Salamanca.
July 2004 – The creation of the Teen program.
July 2005 – Launched new venue in Tuscany, Italy
March 2006 – Via de Cazorla in Jaen added to portfolio.
July 2006 – Italian venue changed to rural Umbrian resort.
The tremendous success of that first pilot program in July 2001 was followed by many more. The recent additions of Cazorla in the south of Spain and Umbria in Italy, broaden the range of spectacular locations which foster this unique English language experience. These venues are also used to host our range of special editions such as Pueblo Ingles for Teens, Pueblo Ingles for Doctors and the new Book Club initiative.
English is the most widely taught and understood language in the world, and sometimes is described as a lingua franca. Although Modern Standard Chinese has more mother-tongue speakers (approximately 700 million) English is unquestionably used by more people as a second or foreign language, putting the total number of English-speakers worldwide at well over one billion.

Under the “More Than English” umbrella, The Pueblo Ingles Programs are the core of our business. Complemented by this is a range of other associated offerings; all endeavouring to improve the use of the English language.
English Required is a job search engine for companies who are looking for personnel that posses a high or even bilingual level of English. Companies placing job vacancies on this popular job portal benefit from a selection of high quality staff as previously screened using very specific criteria. This site, used by Spanish job seekers, is also visited by other English speakers living in Spain and even includes some natives!
Executive Masters in English
An intensive masters program has been developed with professionals in mind. With classes for different levels staring on Friday afternoon, continuing on Saturday and Sunday mornings mean that this nine month program delivers fast results. The group of teachers, each with their own speciality, offer a comprehensive agenda of activities to raise the students level in all aspects of communicating in English.
Kids and Teens
Along with the 8 day Teen programs in the month of July we offer weekend courses at our country venue in Soria. Tailored to kids from 8-12 years of age and 13-17 years of age. From Friday afternoon to Sunday night, the youngsters practise their English through games, debates and activities whilst avoiding traditional classroom techniques that can be restrictive. Being completely immersed in English, their “leaders” are all native English speakers with plenty of energy and pizazz.
In-Company and Private Classes
Our clients’ English needs are assessed to provide the most appropriate training, whether it be in-house or at out offices in Madrid. We currently have 30 teachers teaching private and group classes in small to large companies in the Madrid province. These classes are particularly popular for students who attended Pueblo Ingles programs and want to maintain their level.
